Eric “Bomber” Bodbyl
I was lucky enough to grow up on a plot north of Johannesburg, an area that is now known as Kya Sands. I went to Boskruin dual-medium primary school and Northcliff High School. My career was as a computer programmer, but my real passion was sport. Tennis was my main sport, playing at Honeydew and Randburg Tennis Clubs. I then played ten years of squash league at Modderfontein Sports Club, nine years as captain, playing in the lower league teams. I played a few years of over 35 hockey but found a wonderful social cricket club called Albo’s where I played and was chairman for many years. I also kept the social cricket league running for many years. Golf also became a passion and I played off a ten handicap for many years. Additionally, I was chairman of Honeydew Tennis Club, successfully ran three senior ranking tennis tournaments and also ran the Southern Transvaal Junior Tennis League.
Having been on a dating site (documented in my online journey) and listening to many others discussing online dating, I decided that there are several flaws in the dating sites available and that here is an opportunity to transform and improve dating across the country.
Many sites claim to have thousands of members, yet when you try and communicate with them, you receive no response. This is because non-paying members remain there just to attract new members. Dating sites also add fake profiles in order to make their numbers look good. They also seem to move or copy profiles from one web address to another web address. Very few dating sites are actually South African. Even though they are .co.za they are from overseas. There is very little support and no human interaction with the site owners.
There are too many undesirables on these web sites therefore a ranking system is necessary to identify and isolate the many undesirables. It is a mission to actually meet a member. So by organising functions, we are creating a fantastic opportunity to get our members together. Especially for the ladies, it is a safety concern to meet people off the Internet, especially if it is not in a controlled environment. So I started to do the ground work. Having limited funding, I started putting together a team of people that I have known for many years, across the country, who saw the potential in what I was trying to achieve, and needed to improve their way of life. So I began laying the foundations to launch a successful dating site. I travelled the country in search of acceptable venues, met with various advertising experts and found a company who could develop the web site the way I wanted it. I will be hosting as many of the functions as I can, which is a challenge in itself because I am an introvert. But I believe in my product, and I believe in my team, so I will make this work. In poker terms, I am “All In”.
I hope that you will join my dating web site and that you will come to our functions. I promise you that you will not be disappointed.
